Programme overview
Access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene is fundamental to children's health, dignity, safety, and well-being. At Child Space Organization, we recognize that effective child protection cannot be achieved without addressing the basic physical conditions that enable children and families to live healthy, dignified, and productive lives.
Our WASH Programme focuses on improving access to clean water, safe sanitation facilities, and hygiene education in informal settlements. Poor sanitation exposes children to preventable diseases, compromises their safety and dignity, and contributes to school absenteeism and reduced learning outcomes, particularly for girls.
Our approach
- Promoting proper hygiene practices and behaviour change among children and families
- Supporting access to safe and child-friendly sanitation facilities
- Conducting community hygiene awareness and behaviour-change campaigns
- Strengthening community participation and ownership in sanitation improvement
- Integrating WASH education into child wellbeing and protection programmes
- Advocating for improved sanitation services in underserved informal settlements
- Mobilizing resources for community clean-up and sanitation activities
Programme impact
- Increasing awareness of proper hygiene and sanitation practices
- Supporting cleaner and healthier learning environments in partner schools
- Reducing children's vulnerability to sanitation-related illnesses
- Promoting dignity, safety, and well-being — particularly for girls
