Child Space Organization is a community-based organization founded in 2018, working in Nairobi's informal settlements to make sure children grow up mentored, fed, protected and heard.
Our story
In December 2018 we surveyed children in Korogocho and the neighbouring settlements. What came back was sobering: rising drug and substance abuse, early sexual activity, early marriages, and children with nowhere safe to spend their afternoons. Behind it all were strained family relationships, economic pressure on parents, and a near-total absence of professional mentorship.
The Smart Children Club launched in March 2019 as our answer. Since then the work has grown into ten interlocking programs — mental health, nutrition, health education, SRHR, parenting, talent, teacher training, safeguarding and WASH — reaching more than 33,000 children and 5,000 parents.

All within Ruaraka Sub-County, Nairobi. Our long-term goal is to reach at least 100 schools across the sub-county with school-based education programs.

Research & attachments
A research wing and student attachment opportunities.
We host students from Kenyatta University, the University of Nairobi, JKUAT and other institutions for attachments and field research in child psychology, social work, community health and education — turning our field experience into evidence that strengthens child programming across Kenya.
