The organization is highly committed to holistic child development by helping the neediest and marginalized children and families in Kenya. Our work mainly targets the vulnerable children, youth and women living in Nairobi’s informal settlements namely: – Korogocho, Baba Dogo, Kariobangi, Mathare and their environs.
With established community mentorship programmes such as the Smart Children Club that provides safe spaces for children, we continue working on a arrange of evidence based prevention of various social vices such as Teenage pregnancies, Violence Against Children, Alcohol, Drugs and Substance Abuse, HIV&AIDS, Sexual and Gender Based Violence among others.
This wasn’t just a family problem; it was a national emergency, threatening education and the future of countless youths.
The causes were many-poverty, peer pressure, lack of sex education, broken families, rape, outdated cultural norms, drug abuse, and unfiltered digital content, among others. While girls faced the dangers of early pregnancy, boys were sinking into drugs and crime, spiraling into a future of truancy and lawlessness.
This disturbing reality pushed Chrispine Okello, a seasoned youth advocate, into action. With years of experience in community work, especially in informal settlements, he refused to join the crowd in blaming and condemning. Instead, he took a bold step without waiting for official registrations or bureaucracy.
Armed with reputation, trust, and an unshakable passion, he reached out to children, youth, parents, teachers, and local leaders. His message was clear: it’s time to intervene, educate, and empower – not to shame, but to change lives. And so, Child Space Organization was born.
